Graeflicher Park is among the luxury spa of the world and covers a total area of 64 hectares and has very close ties to the family of the present owners, Count and Countess of Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff. In 1781/82 Count Caspar Heinrich took over the property and luxury spa and developed several springs for medicinal purposes during 1965.

Count Sierstorpff went on to redesign the site with the spirit of an English landscape garden and luxury spa and in 1825 timber framed resort buildings in the style of the local area were erected. Many prestigious guests have enjoyed the luxury spa and park including the poet Friedrich Hölderlin and writer Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. The park received acclaim in 2001 when Ramona Countess of Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff was given the prestigious award of the Golden Linden Tree Leaf. Following this award from the German Horticultural Society Graeflicher Park and luxury spa was given an inclusion as an anchor garden of the very best in the European Garden Heritage Network. This honor is bestowed on very few gardens in England, France and Germany. Many famous garden designers and landscape architects have worked on the garden including Gilles Clement.

The origins of the park go all the way back to 1669 when a double row linden tree promenade was commissioned. In the early 18th century this was extended with another promenade that was set at right angles and to this very day these are still very popular attractions of the luxury spa and park, with the mineral spring being at the intersection. It became one of the first landscaped parks in the English style. Graeflicher Park today has the distinction of being voted among the top of Germanys most beautiful parks and spa. Various landscape designers of international fame have left their mark on the park. It is well known for some of the very best sumptuous flowerbeds which feature more than 30,000 plants each and every year.

There are many features that set this luxury spa and park apart as being among the very best. For one there is a large stock of trees, some of which are more than 200 years of age and very rare. There are panoramic views out over the landscaped gardens and luxury spa. A meadow of lilies that have been designed by the landscape architect Giles Clement and a small garden temple situated by a pond and bridge which was inspired by historic designs. The moorland pond, maze, Hornbeam hedges and rose garden are all popular attractions at this one of the very best parks and luxury spa in the world.
