Abeking and Rasmussen are builders of some of the very best megayachts in the world. They started out life in 1907 on the banks of the Weser River and over the decades have evolved into a ship building complex that is among the state of the art.
Currently the shipyard holds
yachts of up to around 80 meters in length within its five separate halls and the shipyard to this day still bears the name of its founders Henry Rasmussen and George Abeking. The complex is complete with all the latest innovations including a syncrolift, inner harbor and modern office buildings.
The craft that came from the shipyard when it was founded was nothing like the
luxury yachts that are produced today. Back then the craft were typically constructed of wood and were made up of small motorboats and
yachts. Despite this they were among some of the highest quality of their time and very characteristic. The main clients of the company at this time were private owners, Governments and Navy. Today the company mostly builds craft for individuals who want the
very best.
One of the things that stand out with Abeking & Rasmussen is the emotions when it comes to designing and building some of the
very best yachts in the world. The company work closely alongside the owner of the yacht to ensure
that the final product fulfills the owners dreams. The brand name has always undertaken any project with the same factors in mind. These are to ensure the creation of not only a craft that is very functional but also one that is very reliable and beautiful when it comes to the aesthetics. These are just some of the things that have been with the company from the word go and remain within everyone working in the yard today.
Abeking & Rasmussen have launched a total of more than 6,500
yachts and vessels since their founding. The company state their success is down to the wonderful sailing characteristics of each of their
yachts along with the fact that their vessels can be relied upon for many years. The brand name has been responsible for numerous innovations which include the design of lighter materials which was then used in the hull construction for their
luxury yachts.
While the company names might have changed in 2009 to a stock company with the moniker of Abeking & Rasmussen, Schiffs und Yachterft, very little else has changed and the values of the company when it comes to designing
yachts remains the same. The change will only ensure that they will be able to continue with new innovations and widen its focus on projects in the future.
