Benedict Wormald is cited as being one of the
very best and most influential people in
luxury design. He is founder of the
Fine English Company which is the epitome of British style, located in the Cotswolds.
Mr. Wormald created a range of highly collectable and desirable objects that were reminiscent of the colonial past of Britain, employing the skills of traditional artisans and native rare woods with signature detailing of exotic and
luxury animal skins.
The
Fine English Company was founded in 2007 after Benedicts desire to leave his London career behind as a city strategy consultant and turn his dream and passion for British design, along with antiques into a business. Mr. Wormald worked tirelessly creating the first collection sourcing unusual items and commissioning bespoke
luxury products. The press described the collection as worldly beautiful things.
Benedict was frustrated with terms such as made to measure and semi bespoke, terms that were thrown around without any real meaning. So much so that Benedict sourced an enviable black book of some of the
very best suppliers and bespoke makers. Mr. Wormald believes that a bespoke piece is something that is unique and which can be treasured for generations to come. Benedicts love of shooting led him to work with Holland and Holland, the bespoke gun makers to royalty and the
Fine English Company has backed the Princes trust and for more than 100 years dominated bespoke skills in gun making, silversmithing, shoe making and tailoring. Thanks to the collaboration with Holland & Holland and other
excellent British brand names a debut range by the
Fine English Company led to working with brands including Aston Martin, Dunhill and Kilgour.
The
Fine English Company never sees a request as being unusual. They have in the past taken on numerous commissions from clients including anything from sourcing the
finest Van Ingen Tiger taxidermy in Europe to sourcing matching monogrammed sable blankets for an international client to keep warm during transfers from his private jet to his Rolls Royce. The company has taken on requests including 48 pairs of zebra slippers and a Cotswold games room including the restoration and the installation of a historically significant GEO.
One unique aspect of the service provided by the
Fine English Company is the ability to be able to source anything or design it; this is a skill that has seen the company sought out by some of the most demanding clients from around the world including film producers, interior designers and stylists. The company has clients around the world including USA, Russia, China, the Middle East and the UK with the founder committing to manage every commission in person.
