Auction house Sothebys are to hold a luxury jewels sale which incorporates one of the worlds very best diamonds. The excellent 24.78 carat fancy intense pink diamond was last on the market more than 60 years ago. Other highlights to the sale are a collection of the finest white diamonds and colored gemstones, jewels of important provenance and stunning period and signed gems.

This superb sale will be held on 16th November 2010 in Geneva and will be the highlight of the international auction calendar. At the head of the auction is one of the rarest and most superb of gemstones ever seen at an auction, the intense pink 24.78 carat diamond. Other excellent lots on auction are a rich and stunning collection of more than 500 lots comprising of an array of beautiful white diamonds and colored gemstones. Some superb creations which will be signed by some of the greatest jewelers from around the world will also be on auction. The sale is expected to draw crowds from around the globe.

The star of the show, one of the very best pink emerald cut diamonds in the world displaying the purest pink coloration and graded fancy intense pink, is said to be potentially flawless after re-polishing. Presently it is graded as VVS2 clarity and has been assessed and a member of the rare and covered IIa classification which at present is made up of less than 2% of all the diamonds in the world. The scarcity of a pink diamond exceeding more than 20 carats makes it a luxury and is a landmark moment in the world of gems. Four step cut white diamonds will also be featured; the diamonds are all D color which of course is the finest grading a white diamond could have. Some of the pieces are signed, including an excellent luxury diamond ring from Graff, a cut cornered square set diamond of 20.16 carats. In addition a diamond ring from designer Harry Winston. Another excellent piece which collectors will have their eyes featuring an emerald cut diamond with a weight of 20.18 carats. Collections will also be there for the Van Cleef & Arpels diamond ring of 16.27 carats and a cut cornered rectangular step cut diamond of 18.37 carats, with an assessment of a type IIa stone with purity that is flawless.

Other luxury diamonds and stones of the very best include colored diamonds which are becoming increasingly popular. These include an excellent fancy vivid yellow heart shaped diamond ring of 12.16 carats and flawless along with a Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring of Boucheron of some 9.47 carats. From French designer Alexandre Reza there is a stunning pair of fancy blue diamond and diamond ear clips, a cluster f three pear shaped diamonds suspending from it a fancy blue pear shaped diamond of 5.01 carats and a white diamond of 5.61 carats. Other jewels of high importance will be auctioned including a collection of Cristina Ford the wife of Henry Ford II.
