Yoko Ono, is a Japanese born artist, musician, author and peace activist most loved for ground breaking work of the
very best in filmmaking, avant-garde art and music and wife of musician John Lennon. Ono brought feminism to the front with the help of her music and is considered to be a pioneer and a major influence during the 70’s.
Ms. Ono is also well known for her philanthropic contributions to Aids, the Outreach programs and arts and peace. During 2001 the "YES
YOKO ONO" collection of Ono’s work, was awarded the "International Association of Art Critics" for the best museum show originating in New York. This is one of the
very best awards in the museum profession.
Since the early 60’s
Yoko Ono has been an activist for peace around the world and human rights.
In 2002 she initiated her own peace award, giving prize money to artists who worked in regions of conflict. In 2009 Ono was the designer of a t-shirt for the "Fashion against AIDS Campaign". The t-shirts had the slogan "imagine peace" in more than 20 different languages sold around the world. Ono was names the "Global Autism Ambassador" in 2010; she has previously created artwork "Promise" in 2009 to mark autism awareness.
