The
Range Rover is an SUV from Land Rover, described as a four wheel drive sport utility vehicle it is a
luxury SUV from the British icon. The
Range Rover was first produced in the UK in 1970 and has stood the test of time as it is still in production today and being improved upon. There has been three generations so far with the original model being known just as the
Range Rover followed by the
Range Rover Classic, this was to separate it from its predecessor.
The early
Range Rover was a
luxury when compared to the Land Rover but it was by no means a luxurious vehicle compared to some of its competitors at that time. However this would soon change. The company began releasing up scale models with such luxuries as power steering and wooden interior trims which brought the
Range Rover in line with other
luxury SUVs of this time. These models were considered some of the
very best and aimed at the
luxury car market. In 1972 the British Trans-Americas Expedition was the first vehicle based expedition of its kind to tackle the American continent from north to south. This included transversing the notorious Darien Gap. The
Range Rovers used for the expedition were modified and are now in the British Motor Industry Heritage Collection in England.
Prior to 1987 vehicles were only sold on the grey market in the USA and it wasn't until March of this year that the
Range Rover was officially launched in America. During early times the
