Georg Jensen is one of the true Scandinavian

Georg Jensen Company was founded in 1904 when they opened a silversmith in Copenhagen and became famous for their Danish silverware.
Following the founding in the small workshop
Georg Jensen put Danish craftsmanship ahead of all others and gave the company a name of being among the
very best. By 1912 the company had moved to larger premises and in 1918 opened the Grand Silversmithy in Copenhagen.
Georg Jensen moved to the premises they have remained in until 1988.
When the name
Georg Jensen is mentioned one immediately relates the style to that of
luxury Art Nouveau, a style that was foremost at time of the company’s founding. Jensen would take his favorite metal, silver, and merge it with amber, moonstone, agate and many other semi-precious stones. The forms the unisons took on where inspirations from nature. The first
Georg Jensen hollowware, a teapot, went on display in 1905 and it was apparent that Georg had talent in many other areas along with jewelry.
The success of
Georg Jensen relied on his ability to be able to attract some of the
very best and talented people to work alongside him. Johan Rohde worked closely with Jensen and was an enormous influence. Other inspiration came from Harald Nielsen, one of the
