luxury wine since 1868 when Baron James de Rothschild bought Chateau Lafite. Sadly the Baron passed away only three weeks later and the 74 hectares at the
luxury Chateau was left to Alphonse, Gustave and Edmond, his sons. This was the beginning of something special which would make the name Rothschild stand out as being among the
very best associated with
luxury wines of the world.
The legacy of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) has been thanks to standards of the very highest quality and humility in learning.
Excellent wines have always been made as part of this legacy thanks to several generations of some of the
very best individuals, over many centuries. All have contributed by working with the highest principles, searching out soils with excellent potential, then going on to produce some of the
finest products in the world.
