The History of the
Hotel De Paris is one that is closely linked with the
very best in
luxury and
Monaco. Founded in 1863 the enterprise has played its part in the birth of
Monte-Carlo and the Societe des Bains de Mer, and has continued to be fundamental in modern developments and in introducing new
lifestyle trends. It was Prince Charles III, who had ambitions for the town of
Monte-Carlo. The Societe des Bains de Mer Casino was to rise and around this there were plans for some of the finest
luxury hotels and gardens to be built.
The hotels would beat those in Paris, London and New York. The Casino opened in 1863 and it was to become a great success. Francois Blanc, arriving from Homburg, bought the property from Societe des Bains de Mer and Cercle des Etrangers de
Monaco. He went on to keep the wishes of the Prince in mind and reinforced all of the principles of
Monaco, a place of
luxury lifestyle and comfort.
Along with the Casino, the Cafe de Paris and the
Hotel De Paris, gardens and villas sprang up and transformed the Plateau des Spelugues, at this time it was decided that the town should have a fitting name. In 1886, Prince Charles III declared the Commune of
Monaco that was between Sainte-Devote and a pathway known as "Francosi", the main road from Monaco to Menton and the seafront from this moment on would take the name,
Monte-Carlo. The
Hotel De Paris quickly became one of the
very best of
luxury hotels in
Monaco.
