Life for the Rolls-Royce began in 1904 and they went on to become one of the very best luxury lifestyle icons whose name would be known the world over. The company began life in Manchester, England with the meeting of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. The outcome of the meeting was that Rolls would sell the luxury cars that Royce produced.

The first Silver Ghost – The very best vehicle in the world

In 1907, the 40/50 HP was developed and this was to become known as the first Silver Ghost model, it went on to earn the title of being "the very best car in the world", a title given by the press after the car successfully completed a non-stop journey of over 14,000 miles. The Silver Ghost was a great success and due to this, Rolls-Royce commissioned a custom built factory, which Royce himself designed in Derby, England.

Charles Rolls had a passion for flying, along with luxury motorcars, however this was to lead to the end of the partnership when he piloted his own aircraft at an air show in 1910, and was killed when it crashed.
