La Perla have gathered in-depth knowledge over time of the female body and dress making techniques from all over the world, they have enhanced their knowledge and put it to good use in successful and
luxury lingerie designs. Life for
La Perla began in 1954 with designer Ada Masotti opening a corset boutique following the traditions of handmade Bolognese corsetry, which would go on to become the trademark behind all products to come for
La Perla.
The company became adventurous in designs and colours during the early sixties when they stepped away from the traditional skin tones and began introducing colours to
luxury lingerie. They also introduced a new range of co-ordinates designed in the "B.B. style" featuring a woven chequered design along with lacy flowered print inserts and a range, collaborating black lacy bras with coloured flowered
lifestyle girdles.
"Leavers lace" comes from the name of the loom used for the creation of this delicate lace. Manufactured in England during the 19th century, the looms were very complex with a manufacturing process that was costly, so production of the loom was halted.
La Perla however still preserves the heritage, as the looms are the only ones capable of being able to work with high numbers of threads, which
