Safia Al Maqui of Algerian heritage was raised in the timeless city of Bruges in Belgium. She has been living in the Principality of Monaco since 1996 and is actively involved in philanthropic organizations. Her international heritage has helped her significantly to appreciate and understand the subtleties of modern art. She currently manages her own art gallery in Monte Carlo.

Her journey in the world of art began as a personal passion. Her interest grew from a love of design and as she extended her knowledge about the fantastic world of art she found that she liked it all the more. Safia Al Maqui then took the decision to take her passion to the next level by opening SEM ART in 2010.

There she as free reign over whatever form of art she wants to display, whether it is photography, art or sculpture. Though she focuses mainly on modern and contemporary art she believes that the most important factor in art is simply that the intrinsic beauty which appeals to all of us. Good art should have a personal and sentimental attraction. It is for that reason that she values the importance of private collections as the owners are often pursuing their own personal love of art.

Happiness for me can be different things as a Mom to never go to sleep without my children telling me how much they love me.

As a wife to have my husband send me flowers with no reason just to show he is thinking of me.

As a business woman to wake up with a smile ready for the next challenge.

Happiness I did have to think... Such a simple word but at the same time not everyone is lucky to have found it.

If I could change something in the world...

I would give God one name to make everyone realize that there is no difference between religions.
