Sheikh Mohammed is just as well known for his charitable donations and in 2008 he founded the philanthropy organization with the sole aim of providing preventive eye care to more than 1 million individuals who suffer from blindness along with impairment around the world.

The philanthropy organization was founded after alarming statistics came out from the World health Organization about the number of people affected rising. One person somewhere in the world goes blind every 5 seconds. The philanthropy organization was set up with the vision of a world free of blindness from causes that are avoidable.
