People magazine once called Yue-Sai the most famous woman in China while Time magazine called her the Queen of the Middle Kingdom and the Congressional Record gave here the title of De Facto Citizen Ambassador. All of these names are accurate when it comes to describing Chinese American Yue-Sai Kan. Her life straddles the West and East as an Emmy winning television producer, humanitarian, best selling author and entrepreneur.

In 1986 Yue-Sai hosted and produced the television series One World which aired on the CCTV network and which gave millions of Chinese there first ever glimpse into the world outside of China and made her a household name.

In 1992 she transformed from a TV personality to entrepreneur with her own cosmetic brand which today is recognized by more than 90% of women in China. She also ventured into a lifestyle product line, the House of Yue-Sai designing bedding, lighting, furniture and providing Bordeaux fine wines.

She is also the author of 7 best selling books and she has been crowned as one of the 20 most influential women in the world today. We are delighted to give you her replies to our two questions.
What Brings You Happiness?
I usually like to set some goals. It might be recruiting someone to sit on the board of my Foundation, or attempting to raise 2 million dollars for a charity in one night, or an increase in the sales of a company to something in the range of 40 percent from the previous year, or learn to speak a little Spanish or firm up my body with a little more exercising each day, etc.

For me continuously creating goals both big and small are vital in living a meaningful life (at least for me), I am happiest when I actually can achieve them. These are planned goals and happiness comes from achieving such goals.

The other sources of my happiness come unexpectedly. But like all good things, even though I say they come unexpectedly, I recently realized that good things come from the result of good things you have done before.

These unexpected good things also make me really happy.
What Would You Change (If You Could) To Make Our World
A Better Place?
I feel that education is so important. A lot of wars and misunderstandings occur due to a lack in understanding. A big part of education is really travels. That is the reason why it is so good to have students travel to another country to get an education. If you dont go, you will not know. That is the truth.

Another part of education is language. It is so important to learn more than one language. Each new language you learn is a new window to understand the world better, and a way to eliminate misunderstanding.

Everyone can help a little more. First start with yourself.

Go out, learn one more language! You then become one less person in a world that is ignorant.
