Christo who today is known for some of the very best unique art was born in Bulgaria as Christo Vladimirov Javacheff in 1935 to an industrialist family and went on to study at the Fine Arts Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Christo moved to Paris and met Jeanne-Claude also an art lover and worked on Packages and Wrapped Objects. Following the birth of his son Cyril, he undertook the project entitled Wrapped Public Building and Stacked Oil Barrels and Dockside Package in Cologne Harbor in 1961. This art project consisted of using rolls of paper, oil barrels, tarpaulin and rope and lasted two weeks and was the first collaboration with Jeanne-Claude.

More art followed with Wall Of Barrels, The Iron Curtain which was held in Paris and was designed with barrels in a height of 4,2 meters, a width of 4 meters and depth of 0.5 meters, the art took eight hours to construct. This was followed by Stacked Oil Barrels in Paris, Wrapped Woman, Store Fronts and Show Windows. It was also at this time that Christo had the luxury of establishing permanent residence in New York.

Christo designed the art entitled Air Package in the Netherland in 1966 which lasted one month and featured the use of rubber canvas balloons, rope and steel cables. In the same year he designed the 42,390 Cubic Feet Package in Minnesota which lasted two days and which stood 9.9
