Carnival of Rio de Janeiro The Rio de Janeiro Carnival is famous around the world with millions each year choosing to visit during the carnival and taking to the streets to enjoy one of the biggest street parades in the world. One of the highlights of the carnival is the carnival parade which is totally unique to Rio. The Samba Parade is one of the few events that everyone should see for themselves at least during the lifetime and is broadcast live to several countries around the globe. However there is no better way to see the carnival from up close and personal on the streets of Rio and even take part in the Samba. There are numerous participants in the event with the parade beginning with delivery of the key of the city to the carnival king, King Momo. When the king begins to samba everyone joins in and the festivities begin in true style.
